Elaine Stocki
Elaine Stocki blends traditions of assemblage, expressionism, craft and fiber art to question form and convention in the medium of painting.
Works are created using a tactile method that involves patterning, reconstructing, staining and the use of drop cloths and studio remnants; process is an essential part of how meaning is created. Stocki explores how the physicality of making and unmaking act as metaphors for the relationship between beauty and death. Her recent work includes representational elements that reflect her background in science and photography.
