Tracy Thomason
Tracy Thomason composes small, bright monochromatic paintings traversed with graphic curvilinear lines.
To create the textured impasto of her paintings’ surfaces, Thomason mixes paint with marble dust and applies it with both brushes and surgical blades. Her work appears as both intuitive and deliberate, with both scratchy, repeated strokes and controlled geometric symbols. The shapes in Thomason’s appear alternately as referencing the female body, nocturnal landscapes, punctuation marks, and more, shifting constantly between negative space and positive forms.
