Jonathan Torres is a painter who examines ideas of crisis, anxiety, and decay.
Reflecting on his own identity and experiences as a Puerto Rican living in New York City, his works reveal the beauty within the absurd and underlying anxieties held personally, socially, and politically. Torres draws on the personal to speak to the collective socio-political climate. His current work focuses on the environment and its changing effects on humanity. Looking to the future, he pictures what we stand to face, building a tension between our current reality and events yet to come.
