Amelia Saul is an artist and filmmaker working primarily in video.
She utilizes experimental narratives to explore ideas of love, the experience of historical versus personal time, and national identity. Saul’s formalist videos are composed using found footage that reference specific historical eras and non-narrative sound. Her installations and split screens atomize and make-strange the moving image to reclaim the medium’s manipulative power through humor, levity, and wordplay.
