Doron Langberg
Doron Langberg creates paintings that focus on love, desire, sexuality, and closeness that depict close friends, lovers, and family members.
By foregrounding color, gesture, and the tactility of paint, his work speaks to shared feelings and sensations in contrast to divisive social definitions and functions. His reductive style renders gestures and facial features in simple lines and washes of color, drawing the viewer into the intimacy of each relationship and moment. Langberg’s work asserts the validity and necessity of queerness in sexuality and identity narratives, responding to the subtle but pervasive rejection or dismissal of queer forms of sexuality within the social structures that we inhabit, and aims to humanize queer pleasure, friendship, and intimacy.
