Andrew Paul Woolbright is an artist, curator, and critic whose studio practice consists mostly of painting and drawing

Woolbright’s paintings appear collage-like, combining and layering disconnected subjects into chaotic and untethered landscapes, inspired by virtual experiences. Utilizing the addictive color palette of the screen, virtual spaces are mimicked with the application of these colors by airbrush and synthetically developed inks. His current paintings are proposals for a video game he doesn’t intend to make; conflating his personal experiences, art history, and visual culture into a screen-time inspired mythology. Woolbright is the founder and director of the gallery Below Grand, formerly Super Dutchess on the Lower East Side, NY, and a frequent contributor to the Brooklyn Rail.
