Sacha Ingber

Sacha Ingber makes sculptures and works on paper that explore how bodies interact with and feel interacting with domestic architecture.

Ingber makes her sculptures from ceramic, wood, stone, and found objects, using the interplay between positive and negative space to evoke a feeling of being simultaneously inside and outside of her artworks. Her off-kilter and colorful sculptures often look like frames—doorways, open cabinets, the edges of a pan, the negative outline of an evergreen tree air freshener—using the common forms we encounter on a daily basis to think through the ways they organize our lives. In her work, she is inspired aesthetically by Pop, consumer objects, prop styling, and craft traditions. For the artist, her work is about aspiration, about the ways in which we fill in the perceived gaps in our lives with imagination, dreams, and reality.
